A sacked Greater Manchester Police Sergeant, and sacked Head of Safeguarding at the Maggie Oliver Foundation has denied publishing the identity of a sexual abuse survivor under the care of the Maggie Oliver Foundation on social media.
It is alleged that Rick Pendlebury posted the identity of a named sexual offence victim on social media in 2024.
On 27th September 2025, Richard Paul Pendlebury pleaded not guilty in the Manchester Magistrates Court to the charges put to him of Identifying a Sexual Offence Victim, contrary to the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992.
Mr Pendlebury has been released on unconditional bail to appear at a criminal trial at 10am on 20th January 2027 at the Manchester Magistrates’ Court.
Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992
Under the Act, a victim’s right to anonymity begins as soon as they make an allegation of a sexual offence. Nothing may be published that could lead to their identification.
This includes their name, address, photograph, school, workplace, or any other detail that might reveal the victim’s identity.
