PUBLIC STATEMENT
I feel compelled to make this statement as the organization involved has not taken the necessary steps to address the situation publicly.
I recently returned to the UK from visiting my family and friends in my home country for a few weeks, feeling rejuvenated and inspired. However, I was met with the heartbreaking news that many of my relatives and friends have passed away since my last visit, and my mother’s health is deteriorating.
This experience has reinforced my belief that life is to be embraced fully. After resolving some legal matters related to my traumatic experience and coping with the aftermath of my unlawful arrest, I decided to shift my focus to my family, partner, friends, and my overall health and career.
Regrettably, an unprofessional and unethical individual had different plans. It has been some time since I actively engaged on social media, but on Monday, I discovered that Rick Pendlebury made a post online about me, including my X-handle, fully aware of my status as a rape survivor who has not waived my right to lifelong anonymity. Mr. Pendlebury, as a former police officer and head of safeguarding at @TMOFCharity, you should have recognised the breach of my privacy. Your actions have left me feeling violated all over again. I have reported this incident to the police, and he has since been arrested and released on bail pending further investigation.
The emotional and mental distress has now affected my physical health the anxiety you have caused me is incalculable, exposing me to unnecessary harm. Your personal conflicts with others are irrelevant; your actions were selfish and irresponsible. It is disheartening that your former employer did not take the timely initiative to prevent this violation, showing a lack of concern for my well-being and that of others.
To date, I have not been contacted by the foundation to check on how I am doing and have opted to leave it to the police. It’s crucial to clarify that I have not disengaged from their support. Unfortunately, they appear to have prioritised their own self-preservation over the genuine care and support that a survivour like me deserves
