Royal Protection Officer PC 775 Glenn Carl Spencer, who has guarded senior royals, is under criminal investigation following allegations of domestic and sexual abuse made by his estranged wife.

Incidents of Physical and Psychological Control
The woman recounted an incident where, after a night out, he allegedly attacked her in the shower. In one incident, she said
“He grabbed me by the throat, screamed ‘don’t you ever embarrass me again,’ and slapped me so hard I saw stars,”
She further claimed that he controlled her clothing choices and her movements, saying
“I had to get his approval for everything, and he insisted on taking me everywhere and picking me up,”
Threats Toward Her Children
The mother also alleged that he was threatening toward her sons from a previous relationship, especially her eldest child, adding
“He used to threaten to knock him out,”
Police Involvement and Investigation
The couple separated in 2020, and she reported the Royal Protection Officer to the police for domestic abuse in 2021. However, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped her complaint due to the statute of limitations for assault. CPS were not able to commence with court proceedings regardless of there being sufficient photographic evidence for a charge of assault by battery.
In September of the following year, she reported him again for stalking. The police encouraged her to file new claims of sexual assault and battery.
Although the officer was initially suspended from duty, he returned to work in June, prompting her to file another complaint.
The Metropolitan Police stated,
“In May, another force informed us about an allegation concerning an officer from the Royalty and Specialist Protection Command. Nottinghamshire Police is handling the investigation, with the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards also involved. The officer is now on restricted duties.”
